Game Summary
The French attack was unexpected and caught the Bavarians unprepared
The French deployed out of artillery range, and manhandled their guns into range
The Bavarians responded in kind, but too late to regain the advantage
As the French approached  one of their cavalry brigades suffered artillery casualties
The Bavarian cavalry charged them, but lost the melee and fell back shaken
The French cavalry in turn charged and routed them
A nearby Bavarian infantry brigade joined the rout
A cavalry  brigade lost their morale and were shaken
The Bavarian gunners in front of Besancon were also suffered
With the loss of his centre, the Bavarian CinC ordered a general retreat
