19th April 1814 – Battle of Vic

Vic Campaign area

4th Spanish corps has orders to attack Vic
12th French corps has orders to attack Vic

Spanish- 20000 infantry and 30 guns
French - 12000 infantry, 1000 cavalry and 30 guns

Move 1 – 0800 to 0900
Both corps advance towards Vic
Spanish infantry enter left town section
French cavalry advance to pin Spanish


Move 2 – 0900 to 1000
Spanish unlimber artillery and start to deploy
French send infantry to skirmish right town section



Move 3 – 1000 to 1100
Skirmish for right town section continues
Spanish complete deployment
French continue to advance towards Spanish


Move 4 – 1000 to 1100
Skirmish for right town section continues
Spanish infantry move onto hill to protect their right flank




Move 5 – 1200 to 1300
Spanish square receive 10% artillery casualties and rout
Nearby gunners fail their morale and join rout
Second French brigade join attack on right town section
Militia garrison suffer 10% casualties and rout

Spanish commander orders a general retreat


Game Casualties
Spanish lose 500 infantry casualties
French suffer no casualties


Game Summary
With one corps per side the odds were never very good for the Spanish
Their militia did well to start, holding their section of the town for two moves
However the luck of dice was not in favour of the Spanish
The first time the French gunners fired they hit the infantry square
They rolled a one on a D6 and routed
The nearby gunners also rolled one on a D6 and joined the rout
A second French brigade joined the attack on the village and the milita routed

Total casualties, including from earlier battles,  at the end of the battle
Spanish 2400 casualties and five brigades in rout
French 2800 casualties
